As a special reward for raising so much money for this year’s Comic Relief fund, as promised we have an extra special flip video for you this week!
Yes, proving the girls have got some of the most supportive fans EVER, you guys got the band their highest single entry yet and raised heaps for the Comic Relief appeal.
So a special thank you, Mollie agreed to haul a certain video out of the vault, that was never meant to be seen by ANYONE.
The Saturdays just might be getting that #1 they promised. After the exclusive performance of “Work” on Ant & Dec’s show, the single has climbed to a current position of #70 at the time of this post. This is a great sign, fingers crossed the single performs well!
The Saturdays all over iTunes:
#3 – Just Can’t Get Enough
#34 – Issues
#50 – Up
#70 – Work
A re-issue of “Chasing Lights” has also been released this week to include “Just Can’t Get Enough” so go out and get your copy if you have no already!
Thursday and we here at Mirror.co.uk’s Showbiz Towers are thrilled and still somewhat bemused to report that we rubbed shoulders last night with royalty while watching none other than The Saturdays.
HRH Prince Andrew joined us at a swanky party at an amazing bar called Altitude 360 almost 30 floors up on the banks of the Thames in London to watch the gorgeous girl group run through their hits including their current Comic Relief smash Just Can’t Get Enough.
The posh do was to celebrate the inaugural flight of new low-cost airline Air Asia, which touched down yesterday in Luton after setting off for the first time from Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.
We were told that an aviator himself, the prince thought he’d pop down too because of his interest in airplanes – and we suspect that considering his legendary eye for a pretty lady, the added enticement of The Saturdays playing will have piqued his interest too.
Anyway, we can report that the prince seemed to have a whale of a time even though he was only sipping plain water – no ice – rather than the free booze on offer and was looking very svelte, which might explain why we didn’t seem him partake of any of the delicious canapes either.
The Saturdays meanwhile revealed that Air Asia were helped them crack the continent by flying them out for their first ever Far East tour next month.
The girls also told us that they couldn’t wait to embark on their debut UK tour too.
Frankie told us: “We’re really excited. We start on the 5th of June and it ends on the 27th. We’re going to have a party, we want everyone in the audience to join in. We just love being up close and personal with our fans.”
Rochelle added: “It’s our first tour, so our hearts are really in it. We’re even going to do an acoustic set in the middle!”
We wonder if Prince Andrew will be after a repeat performance with the ladies? While he makes up which date to book the royal box however, we can recommend he checks out the rest of the showbiz goss that’s ruling our world today. It’s certainly fit for a prince…
First TV performance of Work – the single we all wanted – on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, unfortunately it was a rather shortened mix, but the dancers are back along with some stage props! Watch the video below:
Flo Rida ‘feels bad’ over Saturdays battle
Saturday, March 14 2009, 16:05 GMT
By Daniel Kilkelly, Entertainment Reporter
Flo Rida has revealed that he is keen to befriend The Saturdays following their recent chart battle.
The American rapper’s latest single ‘Right Round’ stopped the girlband from topping the chart with their Comic Relief song ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ earlier this month.
Speaking to the Daily Star about his success, the hip-hop artist explained: “It feels amazing for ‘Right Round’ to be number one in the US and UK.
“You always hope when you’re making music that it will connect with people in places as far apart as Australia and Japan. I feel blessed.”
He added: “The Saturdays seem pretty cool and are very cute. Frankie [Sandford] and Rochelle [Wiseman] are my favourites but they’re all beautiful girls. So it does feel bad to have kept them off the top spot – especially as they’re from here.
“I’m hoping to buy them all a drink to show them there are no hard feelings.”
The Saturdays recently vowed to reach the top spot with their next single.
The Girls gave an excellent live performance of the Comic Relief single Just Can’t Get Enough eariler … what a great way to open the show we think!
