Saturdays star for Marquee Festival

Una Healy from girl group The Saturdays is to sing alongside her uncle, Declan Nerney at this year's Drumlish Festival.
This year’s Marquee in Drumlish Festival with the Saturdays’ pop star Una Healy set to perform on the opening night.

The Tipperary singing sensation, who is Declan Nerney’s niece, will sing on Friday August 20 next alongside her well known uncle.

Last year when the Leader discovered Declan had a famous niece and god-daughter he told us he hoped that she would perform live in Longford and it seems his wish has come true.

Irish singing sensation Mundy will also perform live at the Marquee at the Drumlish Festival. He will take to the stage on Saturday night, August 21 with the Aftermath and afterwards a host of i102-104 DJs who will perform a DJ set.

Speaking to the Leader about the exciting line-up of performers at this year’s festival Eimear Kelleagher, the PRO of the Marquee in Drumlish Festival said, “We are absolutely delighted to have such a well known international star as Una Healy appearing at the festival. She also has a great connection to Drumlish with her mother, Anne Healy and her uncle Declan being from the area and that’s very important to us with a community festival such as this one.”

The Saturday to appear at the Midlands Music festival on July 18th

The Midlands Music FestivalBelieve it or not, it hasn’t even been 2 years since THE SATURDAYS touched down on Planet Pop and quickly set about redecorating it in the neon shades of their sparklingly fluorescent hyper-pop.

Since then a combination of nifty, killer tunes, super-tight performances and pure hard graft has taken Frankie, Mollie, Rochelle, Una and Vanessa from bright-eyed pop ingénues to permanent fixtures on the UK charts and now to The Midlands Music Festival stage.

Treating festival goers to a collection of their biggest hits including Issues, Forever is over and their recent smash hit Ego, The Saturdays are sure to set the festival stage alight this year and the guys and girls at festival HQ (particularly the guys) just can’t wait.

[EDITED] The girls play the O2 Arena for the Transformation Trust

Like many girl groups, bandmembers give themselves a sense of unity wearing co-ordinated costumes.

But as her Saturdays bandmates opted for matching white ribbed vests on stage at the O2 Arena in London last night, Frankie Sandford decided to upstage them with a skimpy crop top.

Clearly proud of her washboard stomach, the 21-year-old flaunted her slim figure in a loose-fitting white top, which barely covered her purple bra.

Crop trop aside, Sandford complemented her bandmates, who wore a series of colourful studded mini skirts and matching white boots.

Sandford joined Rochelle Wiseman, Una Healy and Vanessa White at last night’s gig for the Transformation Trust’s first birthday party.

However, their bandmate Mollie King missed out on the festivities because she is still recovering from a horsefly bite.

She is currently on crutches after contracting the skin infection cellulitis so have missed out on all the group’s festival gigs over the past two weeks.

Before the performance, Una tweeted fans: ‘Heading to the O2 to perform at The Transformation Trust charity gig, should be a good one!!:)

Marvin & Rochelle to move in together?

GUTTED ASTON MERRYGOLD has spoken for the first time about his wingman MARVIN HUMES moving out to live with his girlfriend.

ASTON MARVIN, my favourite pop twosome, have given us plenty of material during their pulling partnership.

But the JLS pair are now parting ways. Marvin says he is leaving his and Aston’s east London bachelor pad and buying his first house.
And he has asked his girlfriend, THE SATURDAYS’ ROCHELLE WISEMAN, to move in.

Aston said: “I’ve lost my wingman. I’m going to see him every day, but I’m going to miss him. Marv’s been softening the blow by making me breakfast.”

Ah, sounds like true love.

Marvin added: “Me, Aston, JB and ORITSE are in the process of making the big step and buying houses.

“Me and Rochelle spend all our spare time together so we’ll be living together. There’s no wedding bells yet. It’s far too early.

“I’ll miss Aston too. There’s been a couple of times where I’ve not woken up for work and Aston got me up. I’m going to have to get a serious alarm clock.”

But it’s not all schmaltzy backslapping in the band. I had a laugh when I found out that Aston, JB and Oritse take the mick out of Marvin for his super-tight affair with Rochelle. And the lads, at No1 with single The Club Is Alive. also poke fun at how much the couple look alike.

JB said: “They are the same person, just female and male versions.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future but if they have kids they are all going to look the same. Even their dog will look like them.”

It’s a shame Aston and Marv are doing their own thing but I suppose everyone has to grow up at some point.
