September 2012

Calling Birmingham Fans!

You lucky Birmingham fans! @TheSaturdays are making a rare appearance in the UK on 18th September – which is also my birthday *hint hint* – and are signing copies of the new 2013 calendar in Birmingham! The signing takes place at 5pm at the HMV Birmingham at The Fort. So if you are going and you want to get me a lovely birthday present ….

The girls continue their US Takeover

It’s all go go go in @TheSaturdays world now. The girls flew from LA to New York over the weekend, although Mollie ended up back in the UK for just under 2 days – no no she didn’t get the wrong flight, she attended a family wedding. She is now flying back to the US as the girls perform their first show in The Big Apple – New York City – this weekend as they start from the ground up in making their name in the mighty United States!

Una’s little one Aoife made her way back to the UK over the weekend and Una is making the trip back herself after their gig in NYC this week, so those who where worried the girls wouldn’t be back that often don’t need to panic as they keep popping back!

As most people know the girls performed their new single ‘What About Us’ at the Perez Hilton VMA aftershow party on Thursday, lots of clips have appeared online but with Universal Music removing them left, right and centre I’ve decided not to post anything up here. If you want to see the clips have a look around online I’m sure you will find it. Either way it can’t be that long – even if the actual release is in January – until we hear it probably as they will have to serve it to US Radio within the next 6 weeks or so?!

We will start going though everyone who contacted us regarding helping with the US stuff. It is important that we have a few people from the US lending a hand, what with time differences and other factors there is a chance we could miss something on TV or Radio etc. We hope to bring the best we can to our US visitors. For starters if you hover over home at the top of the page we now have a dedicated page for US News and events, more refinements are coming as we go on so keep an eye open 🙂

The girls take on LA!

Our girls at MTV VMAs 2012

Last night @TheSaturdays took on America, well they started at least! The girls hit the MTV VMAs then performed at Perez Hilton’s after-show party. As of time of writing this the details are a little sketchy as the party is still on-going as LA is a easy 8 hours behind the UK .. but the girls have been on stage and performed! As news filters though I will update the news post accordingly.

Remember if you live in the US and feel you can help the site out a bit, read the news article below and apply. Thanks to those who have send in requests already we will take a look at everyone at the start of next week so those who might visit us over the weekend have an opportunity to apply too 🙂

Calling US Visitors

Do you live in the USA? Are you super excited at @TheSaturdays are over there doing their thing? If so we could have a role for you on this very website. We are looking for people who can help us keep all our American visitors (and everyone else of course!) up-to-date on what is going on! We are looking for people who can provide the site with videos of the girls in the USA – in a similar fashion to how we provide the UK videos – plus others who can keep us up to date with the latest news and events that is going down, obviously we shouldn’t miss too much from the ‘news’ perspective but there might be happenings that you hear about and the media don’t pick up on.

If you have the facility to record videos, or feel you could add an extra dimension to the site with your US knowledge then send us a message via E-Mail which is [email protected] or hit us a message via our Twitter account @TheSatsCoUk or message us via Facebook

We are sure that you can help us, don’t be a stranger and give us a message! Looking forward to hearing from you! 🙂

Mollie takes It’s Me Choice Award 2012!

@MollieTheSats has done it again – thanks to you! Mollie has been crowned the It’s Me Choice Award winner for 2012! Huge thanks to everyone who voted for Mollie as an inspirational dyslexic. Full statement from Dyslexia Action is below:

Over the past month, we asked you to let us know who in the public eye with dyslexia inspires you the most and we are pleased to
let you know that the nominations are in and counted.

We can now confirm that the celebrity with the most nominations for the second year running is Mollie King, one fifth of super girl group, The Saturdays. Mollie speaks openly about being dyslexic and the challenges this presents and has given so many others the confidence to believe that their goals are achievable.

The It’s Me! Award is the only award presented at the annual Dyslexia Action Awards Dinner that is chosen by public nomination and we have had an overwhelming response this year with almost nine thousand nominations!

To showcase the fantastic nominees, we have created a pinterest board from the Wikipedia pages of those nominated. There are so many people who have not let dyslexia hold them back from achieving their dreams, we hope that you find this board as inspiring and motivating as we do!

The Dyslexia Action Awards Dinner raises money to enable us to take action to help more children, young people and adults with dyslexia and literacy difficulties. If you would like to attend or to find out more about the event, please contact Lucy McNally. Individual tickets are £275 and table packages start from £2750.
