YoungMinds Vs

Our very on Frankie is supporting the new campaign from YoungMinds. The YoungMinds Vs is hoping to highlight the growing problem of young people and issues with mental health.

Pop singer Frankie Sandford of girl group The Saturdays is pledging her support to YoungMinds Vs campaign, which is urging a mass movement of change in children and young people’s mental health.

Frankie is supporting YoungMinds biggest campaign to date which is led by young people and calling for change on the issues that young people said were of most importance to them.

Following a consultation with 3,500 young people about the issues that worried them  YoungMinds Vs will be campaigning on their top 5 concerns; bullying, sexual pressures, school stress, unemployment and lack of access to help.

Frankie Sandford said: “I get to talk to a lot of young people and I know there are so many who are really suffering and struggling with life.

“That’s why I really support the YoungMinds Vs campaign because it’s raising awareness of the importance of young people having good mental health and everything that can be done to make that happen, including young people getting access to help when they need it.

“I also think it’s great that the campaign is being led by young people – it’s all about their experiences and their voices are at the heart of it. That’s why this campaign is different from others and that’s why I support it,” she added.

Leader of the opposition Ed Miliband has also pledged to support YoungMinds Vs: “I’m delighted to help launch this important campaign.

“YoungMinds’ survey exposes some of the pressures children are under in Britain today, from bullying and sexualisation to worries about job prospects. And when they feel depressed, too many young people are afraid to speak out or find a lack of support when they do.

“Good mental health is essential for children to thrive and succeed. That’s why we must ensure all young people have access to the help and support they need, when they need it.

“Mental health is the biggest unaddressed health challenge of our age, and young people’s mental health must be a top priority for Britain,” he added.

The minister responsible for youth policy Nick Hurd is attending the launch of YoungMinds Vs which is also being backed by Paralympian Clare Harvey and Britain’s Got Talent finalist McNasty.

YoungMinds Vs campaign is funded by The Big Lottery Fund’s ‘Reaching Communities’ programme and Comic Relief.

Rumours here and there

Reminder that Rochelle is on The Great Sport Relief Bake-off which is on BBC Two TONIGHT at 8pm. The video will be on the site either later tonight, or early tomorrow morning for those who can’t see it, promise 🙂

Yesterday afternoon – I mean seriously afternoon, I had tickets, but work must come first – Mollie was joined by the rest of the girls to film her appearance on ITV’s ‘The Cube’, for those asking there is no airdate for this yet, it could be months and months away yet.

The reason for this post (and after nearly 6 years, If you’ve been here since day one, I’m not the person to post rumours or internet talk) but I feel its worth a discussion for those away from the (bad) world of Twitter.

Apparently those who went down last night asked the girls about the tour, the answer seemingly seemed to be ‘we don’t know’ and ‘nothing has been decided yet’ and other various comments along those lines.

Make of this what you will, but common sense suggests that maybe the form of ‘Living For The Weekend’ has caused someone to sit back and go ‘wait up here’. We all know that the girls are a singles group (more than an album group) – If you don’t get what I’m saying, basically they generally sell more singles than albums, and do better that way. But I’d would be shocked if someone at their label didn’t go ‘wait the album did what now’ and I do wonder if this is the case here. That seemingly the girls and their management want a tour, but the money holders are going ‘wait up, we can’t tour off the back of this album, its too risky.’ Obviously I’m not ‘in the know’ and if you are and reading this, drop us an e-mail!

Your guess is as good as mine, but for now we are seemingly in a state of limbo. We have no confirmed single news, we seemingly now won’t get a tour announcement anytime soon either. I still feel we will get a SINGLE at least in the next few months, be it something reworked/remixed from Living For The Weekend and used as a lead into a Greatest Hits (Seems more likely after the comments last night, be cheaper to release, minimal recording costs) and a Greatest Hits Tour … who knows. You are free to conspire with us over on our Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Away from music the girls are doing pretty good, Mollie is heading up various charities, and doing The Cube. Obviously Una and Rochelle are great parents, and doing their own TV work, Frankie is still a new mum so she’s got enough on her plate and Vanessa seems to be well enjoying life (which is great, right?!) I just think we are all getting a bit bugged down waiting for something that might be a while off, so please also take a lead from the girls and enjoy life too, we will all be here as soon as a sniff of an announcement takes place 😉

Ramp Up The Red!

Have to admit wearing Red isn’t all that bad now 😉

Mollie is joining up with the British Heart Foundation to ‘Ramp Up The Red’

Mollie explains, “I’m so excited to be supporting the BHF on 7 February by Ramping up the Red and joining the fight against the UK’s single biggest killer, coronary heart disease.

“By organising a Ramp up the Red party with friends, families and colleagues, you will be raising funds that will go directly towards vital research, support and care to help mums, dads, grandparents or babies born with heart problems.

“It’s so easy to organise and you’ll be helping the BHF to continue to fund life-saving heart research in the UK to help everybody who suffers from a heart problem. It is a cause that is particularly important to me, as my grandfather sadly passed away after suffering a heart attack when I was younger.”

So on 7th February grab your reds and Ramp Up The Red!!

In other news, Rochelle has tweeted today that the group (finally) are getting back together after the Xmas break – have they had a month off?! Either way hopefully we will get movement on the next single and tour announcement (which I’m personally expecting within the next month or so anyway – alongside a single announcement) shortly.

Happy Birthday Frankie!!

Happy Birthday Frankie!

Today is the lovely Frankie Sandford’s 25th birthday – that makes me feel old as I’ve been reporting on Frankie since those S Club Junior days!

Everyone here at The Saturdays Fansite wishes Frankie a wonderful birthday, and hope that she has a great day with friends, family and of course Parker!

Have a great day Frankie!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year TeamSats! It’s now 2014, and well it’s pretty much the same as 2013 so far?

I’m sure many of you have set resolutions, about eating less, or getting healthy, or a combination of them both. Or it might be something a lot less serious and fun! Either way I hope you’ve not broken it already, it’s only day 6 after all!

I know the big talking points right now are about the hints from the mailer, which state both ‘new single’ and ‘2014 tour’ – which is a lot to take in.

Obviously ‘Not Giving Up’ has been ‘album only’ on iTunes for a while now, which to a lot of people is just screaming out – next single – and as I touched on my previous post the song is appearing on advance single release dates, set for Early March right now. So we will wait and see.

The next debate is obviously about any tour. In the greatest respect to our favourite group, they aren’t going to pull a Beyoncé and announce a tour, and then go on tour 3 months later. Today new 2014 tours have been announced, and they are for dates in October. I’ve been saying a while I foresee an Arena Tour for the girls, but not until Autumn/Winter 2014. I’ll be glad to be proven wrong, but it’s looking increasingly more likely this will be the case.

Quick roundup of the New Year’s news. Mollie has been sunning herself in LA, cooking on the BBQ in a bikini and generally making us feel very unfit. Rochelle and family have been enjoying a lovely exotics holiday. Una has spent time in Ireland as we await her appearance on ITV’s Splash! Vanessa and Gary have been spending time in Paris and Frankie, well she’s got a new born to be looking after!

I promise stuff will be happening soon, just anyone who was expecting instant gratification from the rumoured tour dates and single news might be feeling a tad disappointed, just remember good things come to those who wait! Just ask Mollie and her BBQ!
