Flo Rida Offers The Saturdays Consolation Collaboration

Generous rapper FLO RIDA has offered to collaborate with British girl group THE SATURDAYS, after stealing the U.K. chart number one from them for a second time at the weekend (14-15Aug10).

The hip-hop star shot to the top of the British countdown with his track Club Can’t Handle Me, narrowly edging out The Saturdays’ Missing You and denying the group their first number one single.

Flo Rida also took the U.K. number one position from the band last year (09) when his hit Right Round jumped ahead of their charity single Just Can’t Get Enough to steal the top spot.

But Flo Rida wants to put any chart rivalry between the two acts aside by recording a track with the five-piece.

He tells Britain’s Daily Star, “If we could make a collaboration happen I would be up for that. I don’t know much about The Saturdays but we put smiles on people’s faces when we make music, which counts more than getting number ones.”

Flo Rida holds off Saturdays’ bid for first number one

Sad news Sats fans …

Rappers Flo Rida and Eminem have prevented UK girl group The Saturdays scoring their first number one single.

Mid-week figures had put the group ahead with Missing You, but they had to settle for third spot.

Flo Rida ft David Guetta’s Club Can’t Handle Me, from the Step Up 3D soundtrack, rose to number one, while Eminem ft Rihanna’s Love the Way You Lie went back up to number two.

Eminem’s album, Recovery, returned to the top of the album charts.

His sixth studio album first reached number one on its release in June, and has remained in the top 10 since.

Last week’s number one album, Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs, slipped to number two in a week in which there were no new releases in the top 40 album charts.

In the singles charts there was only a handful of new releases, including Tinchy Stryder’s In My System at number 10.

Saturdays put Geffen on course

Universal’s Geffen label is looking to score its second UK number one single within the space of three weeks after The Saturdays opened up a narrow lead on midweek sales.

The girl group’s Fascination/Geffen-issued single Missing You is around 4,000 sales ahead of Flo Rida featuring David Guetta’s Club Can’t Handle Me at this early point in the week, according to OCC Data. The Saturdays’ current highest chart performance is number two, achieved in 2009 by both Just Can’t Get Enough and Forever Is Over.
