Update: Official Press Release. via PressParty

Fresh from the announcement that she is to star in this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, Mollie King storms back on to the UK music scene with her new single ‘Hair Down’.

Mollie has reunited with pop maestro Brian Higgins – Xenomania to produce an in your face pop banger that fans have longed to hear from Mollie since her announcement she was releasing solo music.

‘Gotta let my hair down, I just wanna dance now’ proclaims Mollie on a immense track that gets firmly stuck in your head from it’s very first listen.

The song will be released on Friday 1st September via Island Records, accompanied by a breathtaking video, shot in South Africa by Kyle Lewis

Mollie says: “I’ve spent the last few months working hard in the studio developing my sound and experimenting with my solo music. I’m a huge fan of pop music myself and was thrilled about working with Brian Higgins again on this record. Brian wrote and produced ‘All Fired Up’ which was one of my favourite Saturdays songs; he totally gets pop and I think we’ve collaboratively come up with some amazing records that the fans are going to love hopefully as much as I do!”

Mollie has spent the last two years writing and recording her debut solo material with some of the globes hottest producers.  Next month sees her hit the dance floor as one of the stars competing in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ 2017. Mollie  is best known as one-fifth of leading girl group, The Saturdays. Since forming in 2007, the multi-platinum selling band have sold over 5 million records and concert tickets worldwide, scored 13 Top 10 singles and 5 Top 10 albums. The band also embarked on four nationwide headline tours and starred in three primetime TV series, including ‘Chasing The Saturdays’ for E! which aired in over 40 territories.

Beyond the group, Mollie has established herself as a mainstay of the fashion press, alongside being a permanent fixture on London’s style scene.

Mollie signs solo record deal with Island

According to The Sun, Mollie has signed a record deal with Island Music and will be releasing her debut solo single in 2016:

The Sun have claimed to have spoken to Mollie about it, quoting Mollie as saying:

“Signing with Island Records is so exciting, as it’s such a creative label with so much history. I’ve had some brilliant meetings with the label and we’re all on the same page about musical direction. I’m now in the studio recording. I’ve got lots of ideas for what I want to achieve. My first solo single will be out next year and I’m already looking forward to what 2016 has in store.”

The newspaper also claim that Una is in talks about her own solo music deal. All this after Vanessa dropped her first solo song a few weeks ago, seemingly the future of The Saturdays is as doubtful as ever.

Confirmed: No new music this year

Those holding out for new music, you are going to have to wait a while. According to Mollie in an article in today’s Irish Independent, everyone is doing their own things in 2015 – which we knew anyway – and there will be no new music from the girls until at least 2016 …

Mollie is quoted as saying (The Saturdays will…) “be recording another album after Christmas so we are doing our own things this year.”

Una has said much the same to fans today in Ireland too.

Full Interview with Mollie, including talking about Alfie (of course!) is on the Irish Independent site

Exams, 30 Days, Rochelle

Morning all!

Firstly a huge good luck to all our visitors sitting exams over the next few weeks. Exam season is well and truly upon us now, from SATS to GCSEs, A-Levels and at Uni too! If you are sitting an exam then we wish you all the very best, we know you can get the results you want! 🙂

On The Saturdays front its all still a little quiet, 30 Days celebrated its 2 year anniversary, two years .. quite amazing to think that the album it was eventually released from only came out 6 or so months ago!

Rochelle was pictured leaving the Paradise Bar with hubby Marvin over the weekend, added a few pictures below.

Mollie was on ‘Tom Daley goes Global’ on ITV on Thursday evening. As I was out all weekend I’ve been unable to edit the show, but I will do so this evening and will pop it up on the site just in case you’ve not seen it yet later this evening.

Una has also confirmed that RTE have commissioned a second series of Una’s Dream Ticket. If you are aged between 8 and 16 and want to live your dream, you can apply to be on the show now! You have until 25th July to enter!

As I posted previously Mollie and Vanessa should be returning from their holiday’s soon (as this weeks, very odd flip said too) so hopefully we will have movement on the first single from the Greatest Hits soon!

Until tomorrow, or later when I post the video, have a great day 🙂

Tuesday Blues

Hi all, hope you are all well.

Sorry for the lack of updates over the last few weeks, as you know I work at a school and it’s been Easter Half-Term. For those who don’t follow us on Twitter, you probably won’t know that I’ve been to a Backstreet Boys and Justin Timberlake concert, as well as meeting up with friends and having a bit of a break.

Sadly I return and not much has happened, Mollie and Vanessa are seemingly on (a month) holiday in the USA. Not Giving Up dropped to number 42 on it’s second week on the charts.

The tour is obviously on sale now (site will be updated with all the tour information in the next 24 hours or so, so keep an eye out for that!)

The site was 6 years old a couple of weeks ago, which is amazing, again a huge thanks to The Saturdays team, for everything, and this cheeky tweet:

I will go though all the e-mails, and messages today, I have a few hundred to sort out, if anything important has happened I will create an update accordingly and tell everyone.

I will also re-edit the MTV Special (below) it’s way out of sync, which is annoying, as it took an age and a half to edit it initially, so I will get that updated, along with all the video pages over the next few days as well.

As per the mailer that went out this weekend, we are expecting a new single alongside further news on the Greatest Hits release in the coming month (or so), but until then it might be another one of those boring times as we all await the tour.

Mollie King fashion designer

Hey all, hope you all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the sun – if you lived in the south of England at least!

I would love to be posting a tour update, or a promo update, or even the Bigger premiere which didn’t happen last week, but alas this isn’t a Not Giving Up news post, it’s about Mollie’s aspirations to become a fashion designer.

Mollie King has fast become a front  row regular and attendee at some of fashion’s hottest parties – she was even unveiled as the first ever ambassador for Oasis.

Better yet, the star landed herself a modelling contract where she joined a roster of talent including Alexa Chung, Rita Ora, Lana Del Rey and Suki Waterhouse.

The 26-year-old singer has clearly enjoyed her foray into the fashion world revealing that she has hopes of designing her own range one day.

Speaking to MailOnline, the Maybelline Better Skin foundation ambassador said: ‘I love doing the modelling I’m really  enjoying it and learning lots from working with different photographers.

‘However my priorities for this year are with the band and with Oasis as I have another collection coming out with them in April.’

Mollie’s ‘Loved By Mollie’ AW13 collection for Oasis – a 45-piece capsule range handpicked by the  well-dressed singer – went on to become one of their best-selling of all time – and fashion fans will be pleased to hear that The Saturday’s star is considering turning her hand to designing.

‘I would like to design, yes. Hopefully in the future.

‘I’ve learnt so much from doing the campaign it’s been a really nice introduction  for me because you don’t realise how much there is to learn so I’m  really pleased I’ve done it this way round first and then would like to  do into designing at some point,’ she told us.

For now, however, Mollie is focusing on her duties as ambassador for Maybelline and, naturally, she’s a big fan of the brand.

‘Being part of a band I worry about foundation clogging my skin and I know with Better Skin that it’s good for the appearance of my skin day-by-day and is non-clogging whilst giving a dewy finish.’

Mollie maintains that her beauty regime is pretty minimal – she uses L’Oréal Paris Skin Perfection 15 Second Cleansing Oil twice a day and some Carita products on her skin.

Speaking about her closeness to her fellow Saturdays band members, Mollie said: ‘We love to have girly chats about make-up and hair and we love to do things like watch an award ceremony and then discuss people’s make-up and hair.’

Despite spending a lot of time stateside and holding up fort on the front row, Mollie hasn’t caught the juicing bug like her fellow celebrity friends.

‘I take daily multivitamins but that’s it really,’ she said of her health regime.

‘I’m not a big fan of juices and I’ve never done a juice diet because I really like munching on my food and so don’t really like the consistency of soups or smoothies. I would rather actually eat the fruit.’

Frankie and Photoshoots

It’s Monday, oh how we love a start of a new working week!

Firstly we start with the news from twitter this morning that the girls are having yet another photo shoot, for a yet unknown project. We are all assuming that the photo shoot several weeks ago was for the tour, which we’re expecting an announcement for within the next 4 weeks or so, but what can today’s shoot be for? Answers on the virtual postcards please. Could be another tour related shoot, could be an album photo shoot (the girls have been recording – again) could be a nice magazine shoot for a some nice Not Giving Up promo.

If yesterday was a Mollie day, today is a Frankie day as she had a well deserved night out on Saturday night at Kelly Brook’s bar Steam & Rye and the Chakana club.
