They’re with the band: The Saturdays recreate Robert Palmer’s iconic 80s video look

Girl group The Saturdays have hurtled back to the Eighties for a seductive tribute to Robert Palmer.

In thigh-skimming skirts and killer heels, the quintet strike sultry poses in a photo shoot for their take on the iconic Addicted to Love video.

And while their own act is more about singing and dancing than playing actual instruments, they certainly look arresting with the white guitars slung around their necks.

The girls recreated the look to launch Virgin Media’s Addict PAYG tariff.

The original 1985 music video has spawned several parodies, including Beyonce’s Green Light, Mr Blobby’s music video and Shania Twain’s Man! I Feel Like a Woman, in which the sexy models were replaced by men.

Robert Palmer’s hit was also notable for being the first and last clip to be broadcast on long-running UK music programme The Chart Show.

When it was shot, a musician was hired to teach the models basic guitar techniques, but gave up after an hour when it proved too hard

The choreography was also less than smooth, and the women can be seen moving out of sync with one another and even dancing to sections with no backbeat.

The Saturdays are going from strength to strength, and plan to add another string to their bow when they launch their own fashion range.

They are yet to score a coveted number one hit, however, as their Red Nose Day single Just Can’t Get Enough was beaten to the top spot by Flo Rider’s Right Round.

Group member Vanessa White, 19, said: ‘It was gutting because halfway through the mid-week sales we were in front. It was our highest position yet, so hopefully the first single off our next album will go to No. 1.
