The Saturdays

This is generic news about The Saturdays.

Hey all!

As promised a bit of a mini update, not regarding The Saturdays, well okay a little news update, but more just where I stand, and the website stands as of now.

Firstly the website, there will be a few minor changes and adjustments around the place over the next couple of weeks, most will be in the background and you won’t notice any difference. The main update will be we will be shifting all of your connections to the website over to https – secure connections – this won’t affect you visiting the site, everything will remain as is, it just makes the web a little more safer for everyone!

Those visiting on mobile devices should now see the full size, our new theme automatically adjusts depending on what client you are using so we’ve disabled the full blown mobile theme. If people prefer that for mobile devices please get in contact with us!

I will be updating the gallery shortly, giving it a new look – finally – and updating it with some more recent pictures. I’ll update you all when that has happened too!

As for the group, we are still in the same situation when the tour ended, the group are officially on a break, there is no sign of group music in 2015, as for solo attempts, Mollie categorically denied to our faces on Sunday that she is going solo – make of that what you will.

I will do a proper site update with news shortly, remember to keep in touch use our social media platforms on Twitter @TheSatsCoUk and on Facebook.

Update coming

Hey all. Just a quick hi to say we are still here, updates are incoming soon, just been very busy myself and with little new news really around getting around to updates is proving difficult.

Obviously the most recent update is that Frankie has confirmed she’s expecting a baby boy in August.

We spoken (personally!) to Mollie onboard a bus down Regent Street on Sunday about the future plans, but as we where surrounded by management she was being a little coy! More on that tomorrow, it’s her birthday!

Plus other bits and pieces. Update coming soon, promise! 🙂

Saturdays set for new solo careers as Una, Mollie and Vanessa go separate ways

TheSatsCoUk-111214-13

Not that this article is saying much more than we didn’t know already, as I posted previously I would be shocked if by Christmas this year we hadn’t had seen three solo releases … and now being reported by The Mirror!

They’ve been standing side by side on stage for eight years, but now 3am can reveal THREE members of five-piece girl group The Saturdays are launching solo careers.

Una Foden, Mollie King and Vanessa White have been in separate studios working on their own music.

While the girls are hoping to release their new solo material by the end of the year, we hear that they’re each going for a very different sound.

Irish songbird Una, 33, who has two children with rugby player hubby Ben Foden, is the closest to signing a record deal and has been honing an acoustic, country sound with her guitar and songwriting skills.

Pop princess Mollie , 27, has been polishing off a disco vibe with an 80s feel and a big Kylie Minogue influence. She is close behind Una in securing record label backing.

Meanwhile, the girlband’s youngest member – party girl Vanessa, 25 – is experimenting with an R&B feel, inspired largely by Rihanna. She is trying to find edgy tracks that show off her impressive vocal range.

The Saturdays are still signed to Polydor, but are having a breather from releasing music as a group.

The move comes as Rochelle Humes, 26, focuses on her TV and presenting work and Frankie Bridge, 26, prepares to give birth to her second child.

An insider tells us: “Una, Mollie and Vanessa are all really excited and a
bit nervous about releasing their solo material, but it’s been a long time in the pipeline.

“The girls are still a band, but they’re all happy to work on their own solo projects. It means there’s no animosity or frustration between them – it’s a set-up which works really well.”

Mollie’s Birthday Book, Una wins The Voice and more

Hi all!
Just a quick update about Mollie’s birthday book! To help raise additional funds I am personally selling a signed copy of the girls US EP ‘Chasing The Saturdays’ on eBay. 100% of the money is going to this years chosen charity The British Heart Foundation. Please give it a look on eBay and bid if you can!

Last night Una’s act Patrick Donoghue was crowned the winner of The Voice of Ireland! So congrats to Una and Patrick for their fine win. The winners single is on iTunes Ireland now! Una has also expressed her interest in returning to the show for the next series!

Here’s Mollie and more Magnum …

The news according to us …

TheSatsCoUk-230415-06 Hi all,
Again sorry for the lack of updates recently, to recap on everything will probably take me months so I’m going to recap (very briefly) here, if I missed anything then I’m sorry but normal service resumes from this day forward!

In our absence (not too surprisingly) the future of the group hasn’t been confirmed, but noises are being made:

Una has spoken about how she can’t wait to release her solo music.  “I’ve always been a singer songwriter and I have been doing a good bit of writing lately,” she said.
The TV star is working on her own “country pop” songs that will be distinctively different from the dance tunes of The Saturdays. “I have always wanted to do my own original music, that’s the dream. My own style would probably be more country pop, sort of acoustic, a bit different to The Saturdays,”

The same article makes (another) reference that any group music won’t be happening until at least 2016.

Mollie, despite a whole bunch of rumours, has spoken to the metro saying that she has NO plans to go solo, but is concentrating on Fashion! The article also again confirms it will be 2016 before we get any more group music.
‘Next year we will be going into the studio so watch this space,’ she teased. Adding: ‘We each love having our own separate projects on the side of the band – at the moment my focus is fashion.’

We all know that Rochelle is currently presenting Ninja Warror UK among other things but Vanessa has spoken out saying she wouldn’t mind dipping her toes into presenting too!

I know I’ve missed a ton of stuff, but rather than playing total catchup, I will start fresh from this point. Expect a gallery update in the near future, along with various other tweaks to the site now that we’ve moved to our new hosting and a seemingly quieter year ahead!

Happy Birthday – to us! Seven today!

Another year goes by us, and that only means one thing, this site is celebrating its seventh birthday today! 7th April 2008 we finally went publicly live to the world, and to be fair its some feat and achievement that we are still here seven years later. (Well I think it is anyway!)

As always a shout out to everyone who has worked on the site over the years, there have been many, as I always say no matter how big or small, you all worked towards what the site has become, so I thank you all personally.

The next important people are obviously Mollie, Una, Vanessa, Frankie & Rochelle, the team at Fascination and Universal Music respectively. Without the support of the girls, their management and record label over the years we would have been unable to bring you what we have managed to do so, thank you for everything!

We would like to extended our thanks to companies who have allowed us to run competitions over the years and give away freebies to our fans! Without your support it would have cost a lot more, and maybe no competitions would have been able to have worked – from official calendars to tour meet & greets!

Finally the most important is the visitors, there are probably less of you this year visiting us on our 7th year than in years gone by, but I know some of you reading this have been here since Day 1! If you are one than really thank you, without you guys and girls visiting on a daily/weekly/monthly (whatever time frame!) basis, it wouldn’t be worth our efforts updating! So thank you! Even if this is your first visit, welcome, and thank you too!

I usually end these messages with a thought for the upcoming 12 months. Last year was difficult, but we had a tour and album coming out. This year, I would like to give some major group positive news but as we all know both Una and Mollie have said the girls are working on their own solo projects this year, so we might have some music .. but not from the group .. but who really knows right now? You can still donate and get involved in Mollie’s Birthday Book! Plus on a personal note, myself and Rosie are running 10k (6.2miles) in July for the Dyspraxia Foundation at the Great London Run, if you have a spare donation then we would be very thankful!

Either way we plan not to go anywhere, as you have read, we have ‘downsized’ the server we are on now, as we plan to stay but probably don’t need to be spending $50 a month (Yes … thats not a lie!) so now my wallet is thankful for the move, but we are fully expecting to spend the next 12 months updating, just even if the updates are on a less regular basis.

Please follow us on Twitter @TheSatsCoUk and Facebook for social media updates, which could be more regular than the website, but anything major and breaking will be posted here. The personal aim for me is to try and get at least 2-3 updates a week posted, but will depend on how quiet everything is! I like yourselves are hoping for an explosion of news and updates in the near future!

Thanks for the support!

Matt xx

Seven years and counting … The Saturdays Fansite – http://www.the-saturdays.co.uk

Service Update

Sounds like some sort of train announcement! Just an update for all involved, there hasn’t been many updates recently as we’ve just changed servers. We are assured that people won’t see any issues with the change. For you technical people out there the site was hosted on a VPS server which as you can probably understand was a tad overpowered (and pricey!) for a group which seemingly has very little lined up for the next 12+ months, so we’ve looked around and have moved down to a (so-called) lesser setup, but in all honesty we don’t expect to be any performance issues, indeed it might work and be faster for you now than it was previously! The key issue is that everything (from my perspective) is a lot cheaper and more affordable so the site can continue for the foreseeable future as its less of a burden on my income!

Full update will come shortly, on our 7th – yes 7th – birthday next week, but more on that in the next few days!

What is going on?

Hi all, we awake from our slumber, to bring you news … alas not musically. Plus a brief chat of what is going on around here too!

I’m probably gonna miss some stuff here, but the general news updates over the last few weeks have basically been:

Frankie has opened up about her awful morning sickness she’s had during her second pregnancy, admitting ‘They wanted me to go to hospital at one point and I refused because there was no way I could get in a car, I couldn’t even get off the floor.’ – Poor girl 🙁

Rochelle has admitted that she doesn’t mind sharing her marriage secrets on TV! Rochelle is also involved in Comic Relief which is on TV this evening on BBC1 from 7.00pm

Mollie has been out and about with and without David (Gandy) and been making noises about being in a recording studio. Vanessa has also been recording and getting insanely fit down the gym! Una has obviously just given birth but is prepping for the live shows on The Voice of Ireland!

As for the future of this site, our immediate plan is that we aren’t going anywhere. The issue for me is that news is at the least uninspiring. I’m sure many of you do care about Rochelle’s Very Range and Mollie’s upcoming Oasis range, but from a site perspective the news isn’t the most awe inspiring and is something we can potentially report via social media – which we are doing, so please follow us on Twitter @TheSatsCoUk or search for The Saturdays Fansite on Facebook.

The site’s birthday is only 3 weeks away, which is amazing, and yet again I extended my thanks to everyone, new and old, for supporting us for so many years!
