Happy Birthday Una!

una-foden

A huge Happy Birthday to the lovely Una Foden, who is always so supportive of this website over the years. So Happy Birthday from all here at The Saturdays Fansite we hope you have a wonderful day!!

Una confirmed as judge on ‘Voice of Ireland’

Seems the girls are continuing to move more and more into different paths, Una continues her TV roles by becoming a Judge on ‘Voice of Ireland’.

The Tipperary mum-of-one will replace Cranberries frontwoman Dolores O’Riordan who departed earlier this year and will join Kian Egan and Bressie as well as a yet to be announced fourth judge.

Una who mum to two-and-a-half-year-old Aoife Belle  is pregnant with her second child by rugby hubby Ben Foden and will commute from London for the TV gig.

Una started out by competing in the Irish Popstars show and has had massive success with The Saturdays since they formed in 2008, selling over 4 million records in the UK and Ireland.

She also took part in Tom Daley’s diving show, Splash, earlier this year.

The Voice of Ireland returns to RTE in March next year by which time Una will have given birth to her second baby.

Singer and judge Jamelia is understood to have departed the show due to the expensive commute from London every week and her replacement, and fourth coach, has yet to be revealed.

Dolores announced she was departing in July this year, saying the commute from her Canadian hometown to Dublin was just too much.

Dolores, who has three children, Dakota, Molly, and Taylor, with hubbie Don Burton, was on the show for just one series and appeared to go down well with viewers.

She was credited with breathing a fresh lease of life into the show, which films in The Helix in DCU, after joining Niall Breslin, Kian Egan, and Jamelia in the rotating red chairs.

Despite admitting to never watching the show before becoming a mentor, the Limerick-born singer made it to the final stages with her talented contestant Kellie Lewis.

Congratulations to Una and Ben!!

There was mass speculation last night to Una being pregnant, and seemingly she’s responded to it by announcing that she is indeed expecting a second child with her husband Ben!

Everyone here at The Saturdays Fansite sends out our congratulations to the couple, and of course Aoife Belle who will have a new brother or sister!

What Are You Waiting For? Plus Una goes solo!

Just in case you needed reminding, the new single (and album!) from the girls is out in under just TWO WEEKS! What Are You Waiting For? was also performed last night at the Leicester Music Festival, we where in attendance, the girls performed a selection of songs from their forthcoming Greatest Hits album, all this minus Frankie who wasn’t with the girls – presumably on her honeymoon, but (for whatever reason) the girls never announced why she was missing!

Here is the performance of ‘What Are You Waiting For?’ which was recorded by myself, so please refrain from reuploading the video, just use the embed links on Vimeo and credit us here at the-saturdays.co.uk

Una also went solo in Ireland (I’m joking!) she appeared on the RTE show Saturday Night with Miriam. Sadly with this being an RTE show we don’t have the full show but here’s Una performing Issues:

Una attends BTSport’s Industry Awards

Hey all!

In what is (the expected) quite time for the group it’s nice to see the members out and about a bit. Hopefully once Vanessa and Mollie return from holiday and the girls gear up for their summer shows, more will be known of the next single. CapitalFM announced their summertime ball lineup yesterday, sadly the girls aren’t there this year, so their only summer shows remain the UKLive Series of concerts and the Leicester Music Festival, so a limited summer line up this year.

Last night BT Sport hosted their Sport Industry Awards, and Una attended (with Ben obviously!) I’ve added a couple of pictures below, hopefully more will arrive shortly!

Please Mr Postman, Summer Anthem

saturdays_1

It’s Friday all! A great day, a working week is done, and its time to relax at the weekend.

We start today that The Saturdays have a song on the Postman Pat Movie Soundtrack, yes seriously. The girls version of ‘Please Mr Postman’ which they performed on an ITV The Carpenters special 4 years ago (yes it was that long ago!) is the first track on the album. The OST is due to be released on 19th May!

In more summer news, our girls have teamed up with First Choice to find the ultimate summer anthem. You can add your own choices here. The country’s favourite summer anthems will form a ‘poolside playlist’ to be played at First Choice Holiday Villages in Europe and north Africa throughout the summer, and the top 40 tracks will be free to listen to online on music streaming service Spotify. The girls explain it all below:

Also, if you ever wanted to be a member of The Saturdays, or just a popstar in General, Una answers all your questions below:

Plus talking questions, those questions that the girls are NEVER asked, are now all answered: (Hi Hannah!) 😉

Mollie also did an interview for a new book by the Nth Degree, we have that article and will be posting it on the site later today 🙂

Happy Birthday To Us!

In an amazing turn of events, today sees The Saturdays Fansite reach it’s 6th birthday.

As those of you who have been here since Day 1, I generally write a long, drawn out message but this year I’m going to keep it quick and simple.

Never once would I have thought that this site would still be going six years later, it is a pretty amazing achievement, so thank to everyone who has helped over the years.

Secondly huge and personal thanks from me, to each of the five members of The Saturdays, thanks for your kind words over the years and the support that you have shown the site. Also thanks to the girls management and their record label who have also been very kind and supportive over the years.

And last, but never least, major thanks to you, the visitors, who keep coming to the site and seeing what stuff I decide to post on a daily (or so) basis.

I ended last year’s message by saying:

Thank you one and all! Lets hope Year 6 produces the new album, a new tour and everything we can wish for, the same way Year 5 ended with the girls first UK Number One single!

Sadly it seems the number one single isn’t forthcoming, but the tour certainly is!

Here we roll into Year 7 … which is scary and exciting at the same time. Thanks to you all from the deepest part of my heart!

Matt 🙂 x
