Mollie King talks Coachella hair & festival style

Mollie recently attended the Coachella festival, she talks about hair, style and more with Hello Fashion Magazine:

Mollie King, former Saturday’s star turned fashion blogger, caught up with Hello! Fashion Monthly at this year’s Coachella Festival. Known for her flawless blonde locks and effortless style, it’s no wonder she fits in with the LA cool crowd. This year she worked with ghd to debut many of the festival hair trends we can expect to see over the course of the summer. Find out how the blonde beauty achieves her own hairstyles, what inspires her boho-esque festival fashion choices and why her motto is “go hard or go home!”

What do you love most about Coachella festival & who do you want to see perform?

I love how Coachella has got such a chilled out and fun vibe, plus the setting is incredible and the sun is always shining. The music acts are always amazing too and the fact that when you walk into the festival and see the iconic Coachella wheel, you know that you’ve arrived. I was most excited to see Lady Gaga! And then DJ Snake and Martin Garrix as well. The line-up was great this year!

Blonde or brunette? Have you ever, or would you ever, go brunette?

I am definitely a blonde! I once tried on one of the girls in the band’s dark extensions in the front of my hair and it looked terrible so I wouldn’t try it again – unless I tried low lights so that it was dark underneath but still light on top. I definitely wouldn’t go dark all over.

Mollie King fashion designer

Hey all, hope you all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the sun – if you lived in the south of England at least!

I would love to be posting a tour update, or a promo update, or even the Bigger premiere which didn’t happen last week, but alas this isn’t a Not Giving Up news post, it’s about Mollie’s aspirations to become a fashion designer.

Mollie King has fast become a front  row regular and attendee at some of fashion’s hottest parties – she was even unveiled as the first ever ambassador for Oasis.

Better yet, the star landed herself a modelling contract where she joined a roster of talent including Alexa Chung, Rita Ora, Lana Del Rey and Suki Waterhouse.

The 26-year-old singer has clearly enjoyed her foray into the fashion world revealing that she has hopes of designing her own range one day.

Speaking to MailOnline, the Maybelline Better Skin foundation ambassador said: ‘I love doing the modelling I’m really  enjoying it and learning lots from working with different photographers.

‘However my priorities for this year are with the band and with Oasis as I have another collection coming out with them in April.’

Mollie’s ‘Loved By Mollie’ AW13 collection for Oasis – a 45-piece capsule range handpicked by the  well-dressed singer – went on to become one of their best-selling of all time – and fashion fans will be pleased to hear that The Saturday’s star is considering turning her hand to designing.

‘I would like to design, yes. Hopefully in the future.

‘I’ve learnt so much from doing the campaign it’s been a really nice introduction  for me because you don’t realise how much there is to learn so I’m  really pleased I’ve done it this way round first and then would like to  do into designing at some point,’ she told us.

For now, however, Mollie is focusing on her duties as ambassador for Maybelline and, naturally, she’s a big fan of the brand.

‘Being part of a band I worry about foundation clogging my skin and I know with Better Skin that it’s good for the appearance of my skin day-by-day and is non-clogging whilst giving a dewy finish.’

Mollie maintains that her beauty regime is pretty minimal – she uses L’Oréal Paris Skin Perfection 15 Second Cleansing Oil twice a day and some Carita products on her skin.

Speaking about her closeness to her fellow Saturdays band members, Mollie said: ‘We love to have girly chats about make-up and hair and we love to do things like watch an award ceremony and then discuss people’s make-up and hair.’

Despite spending a lot of time stateside and holding up fort on the front row, Mollie hasn’t caught the juicing bug like her fellow celebrity friends.

‘I take daily multivitamins but that’s it really,’ she said of her health regime.

‘I’m not a big fan of juices and I’ve never done a juice diet because I really like munching on my food and so don’t really like the consistency of soups or smoothies. I would rather actually eat the fruit.’

Mollie’s Fashion Future

LOTS of promo regarding this. For those in London, check out the big Oasis store in Covent Garden, apparently there is a huge window display!

Fashion Magazine Grazia met up with Mollie to talk about her fashion range with Oasis.

Mollie has compiled a 45-piece collection, which is an edit of her favourite pieces from the Autumn Winter 2013 collection, including plum leather pencil skirts, oversized tan coats and dreamy pastels. Plus the blonde pop star also stars in the campaign to go alongside her Loved By Mollie edit.

Mollie was giddy about her collection, skipping around the large dining table to talk about her take on this season. She told us that: ‘I went into the Oasis office and there were rails and rails of clothes that I could dive through. It was like every girl’s dream! I picked out my favourite bits, but it was really hard to narrow everything down because obviously I couldn’t pick the whole collection! I wanted a mixture of evening wear and casual pieces.’

Also news that broke yesterday is that Mollie has signed up with model agency ‘Next Models Management’

“She started popping up on our radar. We noticed her style and how great she looked. We really like to sign people who already have a style of their own, and who know what they like. Mollie has great things ahead.”

Mollie launches fashion range with Oasis

We begin today with news that Mollie has continued to further branch out into her fashion roots by becoming a ‘fashion ambassador’ for high street chain Oasis.

The new ‘Loved By Mollie‘ AW13 collection is said to be styled on the girl herself featuring her personal fashion loves like oversized coats in on-trend pastels, tapestry prints and leather separates, thanks to her keen love of clothes.

When questioned about her own look, the style savvy star told us that while she was used to having her outfits picked over in the media, it was her family’s fashion advice she always trusted first.

‘My nan has just learned how to use Google News,’ she said. ‘Sometimes she’ll text me to tell me that she liked last night’s outfit, which I love. If my grandparents like it, I know it’s a winner.’

Mollie, who simultaneously announced her new signing to Next model management, celebrated being the first celebrity partner for the high street store, paving the way for an exciting career in the fashion industry.

Going solo for her new fashion project, The Saturdays’ sweetheart said she wasn’t quite ready do a Victoria Beckham just yet, though she hoped to follow in the footsteps of the fashion mogul who created her own style empire after leaving her girl band roots behind.

‘Music will always be my number one and I hope The Saturdays continue for much longer. The girls are all so happy for me,’ she told us.

‘Victoria Beckham is my idol. I was in the same room as her once and I really wanted a photo but I chickened out. I grew up with the Spice Girls – I would die if I thought she’d heard of The Saturdays.’

Mollie‘s new ‘Loved By Mollie’ collection hits stores today, view the collection in full now online at Oasis. {Note that seems to be the link, but there isn’t anything on the page yet!}

Mollie hosts The Show: TEN at the Bullring

This one we attended! It was an awesome day out had by all, Mollie did a great job hosting and everyone loved the performance!

It’s been a month of celebrations at Bullring with the iconic centre along with a number of shops, including Selfridges, celebrating their 10th anniversary in the city.

On  4th September Bullring turned ten and revealed an exciting month of activity and installations including the bull’s tenth outfit and a chocolate model of the We Are So City model created by Cadbury World. Also unveiled was the TENder Moments installation on St Martin’s Walk where customers could attach their birthday messages for Bullring onto a padlock.

It was also announced that girl band The Saturdays would be performing at the centre’s birthday finale following The Show: Ten presented by Mollie King. On Saturday evening thousands of shoppers packed into Bullring to catch a glimpse of the band as they performed a four song set before being surprised by a sprinkling of glitter and confetti as the performance came to a close.

Tim Walley, General Manager at Bullring, commented: “It’s been a fantastic month of celebrations, which have seen the residents of Birmingham really get into the celebratory spirit whether it be to add a padlock to the TENder Moments installation or wish us a happy birthday on Twitter.

“The Show: Ten and the performance by The Saturdays this weekend was a great way to end our month of celebrations especially as our final surprise in the form of a glitter and confetti explosion was revealed.”

Vanessa’s appearance at Highcross was part of the centre’s Autumn Fashion Fix, which saw fashion shows taking place throughout the weekend. On top of this, many of the retailers were offering amazing discounts and offers to Highcross’ shoppers.

Nicola Short, marketing manager at Highcross, comments: “We can’t believe how many people showed up to see Vanessa, Highcross was absolutely packed. The Autumn Fashion Fix weekend is the culmination of a wonderful month for Highcross; we really have celebrated our fifth birthday in style.

Queensgate welcomed pop star royalty Vanessa White from The Saturdays through its doors today, as she hosted The Show, part of the centre’s Autumn Fashion Fix.

Vanessa’s appearance at Queensgate is part of the centre’s Autumn Fashion Fix, which sees fashion shows taking place throughout this weekend. On top of this, many of the retailers are offering amazing discounts and offers to the centre’s shoppers.
Sam Eastwood, centre director at Queensgate, comments: “We can’t believe how many people showed up to see Vanessa, Queensgate was absolutely packed. #BullringTEN

Tomorrow our very own Mollie will be hosting FIVE fashion shows at Birmingham’s Bullring Shopping Centre as part of the centres 10th anniversary celebration. As part of the finale the rest of the girls will be joining Mollie on stage after 7pm for a special performance!

We are in attendance at the 7pm show thanks to the generosity of the bullring, and we will be tweeting all day from the event! If you are also attending, please tweet us, and tweet events using the #BullringTEN hashtag. We will love to see you down there joining in with the fun at the shopping centre!

If you are going down and don’t have tickets for any of Mollie’s shows (11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm & 7pm) we advise you to read up on what is happening on the Bullring website.

They are very clear on what you should, and shouldn’t expect from the event. What is clear that if you don’t have tickets for the 7pm show – which includes a performance – you are not allowed to ‘queue’ for the event until AFTER the 5pm show has ended. It also says that the shopping centre have the right to close of areas if there are too many people around. It’s also good to mention that it makes it very clear that meeting Mollie or the girls isn’t something to expect and that any gifts you have for the girls should be left at the Bullring Management Office who will pass them on.

The key thing here to remember is that the bullring is a shopping centre, and this is an event taking place at at shopping centre, this isn’t a concert arena, so should be respected as one.

I know many people are going down with potentially the first task is to meet Mollie and the rest of the girls and everything else is secondary, but I don’t think the bullring site could be any clearer regarding this, so if you are travelling a long distance and don’t meet the girls, you can’t say you haven’t been forewarned!

Not to forget Vanessa is also hosting a fashion show, she will be around an hour away (on a train) at the HighCross Shopping Centre in Leicester. So make sure you pop down there and give Vanessa your support too. Sadly we can’t attend this one now due to travelling arrangements and having to be seated for the 7pm show prior to the start, but if you are going please tweet us and we will RT you 🙂
