30 Days: First review & premiere

UPDATE: The FIRST play is on BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show, TOMORROW MORNING at 7.55am ….. (via @WeLovePop on twitter)

The guys over at @PopJustice have given 30 days their review, give it a read below. Importantly the release date is now May 14th and gets its first play TOMORROW MORNING between 8.30-9.00am. LincsFM are saying they are playing it first, I’m sure the likes of Capital and Rado 1 won’t be too far behind! Here’s PopJustice’s take:

We’ve been hammering the new Saturdays single over the last couple of weeks. It’s a song about waiting to have a kiss and a cuddle. The chorus goes “thirty days to us, oh-hoah-oh, thirty days to love, oh-hoah-oh”.

The “oh-hoah-oh” bits are what this song is all about, to be honest.

“Oh-hoah-oh” might be the best sound (EXCEPT ALL OF ‘ALL FIRED UP’) that The Saturdays have ever made.

Many centuries from now when the dust has settled on the 2002-2018 girlband era and the history of the 21st century is being written it may well be noted that “oh-hoah-oh” is The Saturdays’ answer to Girls Aloud’s ‘Call The Shots’ “oh-ooh-oh-ooh-oh” Jimmy Savile moment.

The other key part of ’30 Days’ is a drum fill that sounds a bit like someone throwing a potato into a bin from across the room. We wanted to feature a one-second clip of the potato-in-the-bin bit but we weren’t allowed because apparently the one second clip would fuck up the coming-very-soon-indeed first radio play. It is a shame because we like it a lot. You will hear it soon enough though.

The rest of the song – a rather upbeat raveular sort of pop blowout with a little more sparkle and subtlety than a couple of the band’s more recent tunes – kind of drapes itself around the oh-hoah-oh and potato moments, and drape itself it does rather well.

It’s out on May 14 and it sounds extremely good when the sun is out.

On a scale of 1-10 how excited are you? Leave a comment 🙂

A message from Frankie

The girls official site have posted a message from @FrankieTheSats in responce to the forthcoming interview with Glamour Magazine about her time in rehab recovering from depression as the media was reporting yesterday. Frankie’s message is reproduced below:

Hi guys,

I just wanted to write you a personal note about the recent interview I did for this month’s issue of Glamour magazine, which focuses on my experience with depression. Opening up and talking about something so personal wasn’t easy, but I wanted to set the record straight and share my story in the hope that it will encourage other people suffering from the condition to get help.

I’m now proud to front the MIND campaign for better mental health. If you or someone you care about is suffering from depression and you would like to get help or advice, then visit the website at www.mind.org.uk/campaigns.

For the record, I want you all to know how much your love and support has meant to me. Saturdays fans rock! 🙂

Love Frankie xx

Una out and about!

Seems @UnaHealy has been spotted out and about with Aoife Belle!

Forgetting the small fact that we can’t see the baby in these pictures of Una Healy from The Saturdays – and we really want to see the baby, we love a cute baby – these pictures make us very happy.

Una was pictured going for a walk near her house in Bedfordshire (always makes us think of Bridget Jones) with baby Aoife Belle in a pram. And she was looking super-slim (how do they do it, seriously?) but not too thin, in that celeb way that worries us.

Una was smiling, but we’re not sure whether that’s because:

1. It was sunny (she tweeted that ‘This sunshine is incredible!! Loving it! (So is Aoife Belle although she is in the shade!) X’)

2. She had a new baby

3. She was so relieved not to be giving birth any more

4. She knew she was looking pretty hot

5. Her fiance’s really hot

Yes, there are a lot of reasons why Una Healy could be very happy at the moment.

Frankie Rehab: 8 year fight with depression

We now know why @FrankieTheSats decided to go into rehab at the end of 2011, with an Interview with Glamour Magazine she has described how she fought depression for such a long time, and eventually went to seek professional advice:

The Saturdays beauty has  revealed how she was convinced she was ‘ugly’ and thought it would be best for everyone if she just disappeared.

‘It set off this spiral of negative  thinking – that if I disappeared, it wouldn’t matter to anyone,’ she said of her illness, which she thinks stems back to when she was 15.

‘In fact, it would make everybody’s life easier. I felt that I was worthless, that I was ugly, that I didn’t deserve anything,’ Frankie added.

The 23-year-old, who became a star at 12 in S Club 8, said her footballer lover, Wayne Bridge, was the only person she told immediately that she needed help.

She ran away from him ‘hysterical’ while they walked their dogs and ‘sobbed and sobbed’ in a panic attack.

Frankie explained: ‘Every time I  spoke to someone, I’d be thinking, “They  probably think I’m a horrible person. Am I boring them? Do I look ugly?”

‘I’d always had this thing about my friends and family: that I haven’t made enough time for them because I’ve been working since I was 12.’

Frankie told Glamour magazine: ‘Since childhood, I’ve been an over-thinker, and I used to make myself sick with worrying… So there was a part of me thinking I was putting it on, that I wasn’t properly sick, and only sick people should be in hospital.

‘I got so good at covering it up, I didn’t confide in anyone. Firstly, you don’t think anyone will understand; secondly, you wouldn’t want to bother anyone with it; you feel so worthless,’ she said.

Sandford wants to flag up mental health charity Mind and the Hey, It’s OK campaign. ‘If people spoke honestly to each other, they’d realise a lot of their friends have problems like mine. [In hospital] was the first time I felt I was among people who really understood me.’

She added: ‘I did lose myself, but I feel like me again now. I try not to put pressure on myself – it’s unrealistic, no one is 100 per cent happy all of the time.’

The full interview can be found in this months Glamour Magazine, out on April 2nd.

More bits of the Interview can be found via Sky News, Sky Living, DigitalSpy, DailyMail, Mirror

I’m sure everyone here at The Saturdays Fansite, both stuff and our wonderful visitors, wish Frankie all the best 🙂 <3 xx

30 Days and waiting …

As we all sit and wait .. and wait a bit more .. for any news about ’30 Days’ … I’m sure an announcement will be made soon, although Mollie did say on The Million Pound Drop that the release date is ‘May’ so we might still be 10 days or so off a premiere … either way lets hope we don’t have too long to wait!

Either way, as we wait, why not think of something to add to a Mollie birthday book! A couple of good friends – Rosie & Claire – to the site are working on a Mollie Birthday Book – with a twist, I’ve re-posted the original twit-longer post below. Make sure you read, and submit what you want to submit, if you have any questions drop them a message via their twitter account @mkbdaymemories

We’re very excited and hope you’ll join us on marking Mollie’s quarter of a century in style. As we all know Miss Disney celebrates the big 25 on June the 4th. Instead of the usual write a message etc we thought we’d do something a bit different. We all have our favourite memories of Mollie whether it be back in the day when she was in Fallen Angelz or more recently performing at Wembley. So that’s what we want you to do come up with your favourite mollie memory from her career and include pictures/poems letters whatever you like to describe it. If you want to do the conventional method of sending her a happy birthday message we’ll also be making her a card so you can do that instead/as well as. We think Miss King deserves the very best, she inspires us all and always has a smile on her face.

The categories for Mollie’s birthday book are:
Baby Mollie
Fallen Angelz Mollie
Chasing Lights Era
Wordshaker Era
Headlines Era
On Your Radar Era
Then a section for anything Mollie and the girls will be doing in the near future.

We can’t wait to see all of your efforts, be as creative as you like go mad, be as different as you can. Mollie’s birthday is on 4th June so closing date will be the weekend commencing the 1st of June but get your things in ASAP please so we have time to jazz them up.
